Variations in Routines
1. Inverted Stall - Start off with the bag in a toe stall, pop it up to go straight above you (this is crucial). Then, jump into a handstand and put your feet right next to each other, each slightly sloped towards the other forming a pocket. If you popped it straight up, the bag should come straight down and land in the little pocket that you made with your feet. When you are ready to end the stall, fall so that the bag will go to another player in the circle. IT CAN BE DONE!
2. Hand Spring Pass - You start by putting the sack between your toes on the ground. Then you place your hands on the floor in front of you (this must be done relatively fast) and whip your legs up and over your head, releasing the sack at the top. Then continue over to land back on your feet (you are doing a front hand spring while the footbag is in the air). This can also be done in the reverse (finish a back handspring after releasing the footbag). I have found that if you want to serve it far, the front hand spring works best, and for short passes it's better to do the back hand spring. Practice the hand springs before attempting this trick. The last sentence is very good advice. David T. submitted this trick and won a free Worlds Logo Stalling Star.
3. Deadman's Grave - First kick the footbag as high as you can: the higher the better. Then as soon as its at its highest point, lay down so the footbag will fall right on your chest. Hopefully the footbag will stall on your chest. Then put your legs like you were going to stand up and lift your back up off the ground to make the footbag roll up to your chin. Squeeze the footbag between your chin and neck and then stand up and drop the footbag to your feet and keep kicking.
4. Push-up Stall - Kick the footbag a little over your head. Fall face first (be sure to catch yourself - like you were doing push-ups). Try to land so that the footbag will fall between your shoulder blades. Do a couple of push-ups. Then, when you are ready, stand up keeping your head lower than your back and you will be able to roll it up your neck and head.
5. Ultimate Butterfly - In order to pull off my trick, you must first drop the footbag from your hand to your foot to a toe stall. Then flick the footbag off of your foot straight up into the air and all in one motion drop to the ground with the soles of your feet pressed together to kick it with your soles. Make sure you do this carefully so you don't pull a muscle.
6. Grand Hand Stand - You get a stall between your feet: either the front or back of your feet (I prefer the back). Then do a hand stand and flick the footbag to the other kicker who tries to stall it. My friends and have done this and landed a neck stall/aeroplane after the Grand Hand Stand. We also have got Jesters and stuff after this move from one of us to another. Take turns serving the footbag to each other in this manner. It helps to lean how to do a handstand really well before you try this move.
7. The Invert - Try catching the hacky sack on the back of your neck. Then go into a handstand. For some extra thrill, add a spin. Meaning, spin around in circles in a handstand (skyscraper) with the hacky sack still on the back of your neck. When you do the spinning version it is called the Hurricane.
8. Kip Stall - Hack the footbag up in the air. Lay down on your back and stall the footbag on your chest. Then roll backwards and spring off your hands, landing on your feet. If done right, the footbag should fly off your chest to another player.
9. Catapult - First you kick the footbag high enough to do a good neck stall. Then, after you have the footbag on the backside of your neck securely, pop it back up fast enough to get the footbag to go backwards. After that, hit the floor on your hands and quickly put your legs together and kick it up with both feet. If you do it right, the footbag should go to the person in front of you and you can jump back up fast and continue playing.
10. Crazy - First throw the footbag up and do an "Impossible Jester" (throw the footbag up and swing your left leg over the footbag and with the other leg "Jester" it). As the footbag is on the way back down do an inside kick with your right foot. Kick it hard because you want it to go above your head and stall the footbag on the back of your neck. Then do a handstand and when ready come back down and stand up. The footbag should still be on the back of your neck. Let it roll off your right shoulder and catch the footbag in a front toe stall on your right foot. Balance is the key. THIS CAN BE DONE!
11. Twister - Start this trick with a hand spring pass facing a wall so it will bounce back towards you. Get back to your feet and rotate 180 degrees and catch the footbag on the back of your neck. Next, jump up into the air causing the footbag to pop off your back. Rotate another 180 degrees and catch the footbag on your neck again (you may repeat this spinning part as many times as you wish). Next jump up into the air again, but this time rotate and drop to the ground to catch it in a lap stall (a "Russian"). Now, raise and tilt your body so that the footbag will roll up your chest and stall it underneath your chin. Lastly, stand upright and drop it into a Jester (either side) and continue kicking. Mike T. submitted this combo trick and won a free Worlds Logo Stalling Star.
12. One for the Ladies
Starting in a toe stall, kick the footbag above your head. As it comes down, get into a push up position on the floor and stall it on your neck. Do a couple of push ups for the ladies then stand up quickly tilting your head forward so it rolls up the back of your head. As it reaches the top of your head, flick your head back so it flies up into the air and finish it with a head/hat stall.
13. Stop, Drop, and Roll
(He figured this out in gym class) Stall the footbag on the back of your neck. Then, drop down into a pushup position (body up). Throw the footbag up by pushing up a little bit and flip over and catch it on your chest. Pin it inbetween your chest and chin and stand up. Drop it and start kicking.
14. Catapult
First you kick the hacky sack high enough to do a good neck stall. Then after you have the sack on the backside of your neck securely, pop back up fast enough to get the sack to go backwards. After that, hit the floor on your hands and quickly put your legs together and kick up. If you do it right, the hacky sack should go to the person in front of you and you can pop back up fast and continue playing.
15. The Irish Linedance
Begin with an inside kick and kick it from your right foot to about two feet away from your left at knee height. Then jump sideways and kick the footbag while clicking your heels - your right foot should be extended more than the left, so this way you will kick the bag over your head as though to do a Rainbow but while it is in the air spin 180 degrees so you are facing the opposite direction you were before. Then the bag should come down about a foot away from you left side again where you kick it with your left foot over your head in a Rainbow but while it is in the air again spin 180 degrees. Then repeat the trick from the beginning again. You will be doing half rainbows. This and four other tricks submitted by Terry L. who won a Stalling Star.
16. The McTwist (must use a wall)
Kick the bag so it hits the wall and falls sliding down the wall. Jump sideways and plant your feet on the wall supporting your body with one of your hands on the ground, and stall the bag on the bottom foot that is stalled on the wall. Here is the hard part, slide your feet together so the bag is between your feet and then push off the wall and jump upright and then spin your body 360 degrees kicking the bag into the air at the end of the spin. Land the bag and continue to play. (Be sure you try this on grass using your strongest arm to hold yourself in position on the wall and don't even try it unless you have really good upper body strength and can spin without getting dizzy.) This and four other tricks submitted by Terry L. who won a Stalling Star.
17. Yoga Stall
For only the most flexible!!! Boot the bag straight up and get right underneath it. Then, quickly lay down so that the front of your shins, back of your thighs, bottom, and back touch the ground. Catch the bag on your chest. You can arch your back to roll it to your chin and grab it or sit up and let it fall into your lap. The hardest part is getting back up.
18. Break Dance
Start with your dominent leg crossed over the other leg with the footbag on the dominent one. First pop it up and do a 360 degree spin. Catch it on the dominent foot again, no cross over necessary. Pop it up again and do a squat-thrust (a squat-thrust is when you crouch into a squat position and then get into a push-up position). Try to gently catch it on the back of your neck. Quickly jump up, again launching the footbag into the air. Catch it now in a Jester, spin 360 degrees (without it falling). At the end of the spin pop it SLIGHTLY to waist height, and HOP over it. I feel it is needed that to gain momentum on the hop at the end -- I spin too while jumping. Catch it in an outside stall and you are done.
